A Happy Hostess

I am going to try to make this short because I am quite hungry and also I have a Book Club meeting tonight! Maybe I'll fill you in about that on a post some time.

Anyways I wanted to introduce a part of myself that I am just getting to know in a better way recently. A hostess. I love hosting! It truly brings me so much life to have people over, to serve some food or wine, or to have weekend guests that stay the night! Although I haven't quite got to the point of awesome host like Natalie over at Natalie Creates (check her out, she is so inspirational and thrifty!) I would hope that my guests had a good time!

Before they came over Kyle and I made a spontaneous trip to Home Outfitters and ended up coming home with a new area rug and bedding for our guest bed (aka leaky air mattress) and also a few fun little things like chocolate and extra tooth brushes. I made a little hosting jar with things that could potentially be forgotten and some goodies for our upstairs guests and our downstairs guests.

The guests were my wonderful sister Amanda, her Matt, and their Anna, our friend Brenden from B.C., and our friend Hannah from Alberta. The fun part was that Matt and Amanda came up to pick up Brenden, so Hannah and I (Amanda and I used to live with her and some other girls and hadn't seen each other in over a year) kept it a secret and surprised Amanda :) It was so happy! We spent some time shopping down town and then came home. Kyle also had two friends over who had come to help him fix something so we ordered pizza for supper. It was so fun, I love a full house!

Amanda, Matt, and Brenden had to leave early in the morning, so (this is one of my favourite parts of the weekend) I was woken up a few minutes before they had to leave by Amanda putting my favourite little gal Anna in bed with me for some snuggles, and when I came out into the kitchen Kyle had made coffee and breakfast sandwiches for everyone! I'm talking bacon weaved into a patty Pinterest style and everything. I knew he was getting up to do this and he insisted I didn't need to get up but I'm pretty sure I was basically giving him a standing ovation in front of everyone because I was so blessed by what he did! What a guy.

After that Hannah left shortly and Kyle and I had some time to veg out after catching a quick game of our nephews flag football, which was amazing because the sun was shining and I had to take off several layers! Beautiful fall weekend it was.

In conclusion, I had the most wonderful time and can't wait to host more in the future, which happens to be tomorrow! Amanda and Matt are coming again, as well as (hopefully) my dad! Looking forward to cooking, catching some Saskatoon sights, and catching up with family again.

Here are a few pics I snapped of my house after a good cleaning before everyone arrived. That's one of the good things about hosting!
